Headshot Photography: A New Year, A New Head Shot
JOB TYPE: Headshot photography update
JOB DETAILS: Exciting updates to enhance client photography experiences after a busy start to the year which included some personal growth through a headshot workshop.
Ok, yes, I appreciate that it’s already February. However, it’s been a hectic start to the year for me! Therefore, today is the first real chance I’ve had to sit down and put some thoughts into writing. In other words, time has flown by. Between projects, client sessions, and personal development, the weeks have consequently disappeared fast.

Before we said goodbye to the old year, I made a decision to invest in myself and my craft. And what better way than to sign up for a little extra education. I’ve always believed that learning is a continuous journey—there’s always something new to discover, refine, or adapt. Staying up to date and improving my approach allows me to provide the best possible service for my clients. So, when I came across a headshot workshop being run by a photographer that I admired, I had to jump.

Fast forward to January, and I found myself in a home studio in St Albans, eager to absorb as much as I could. As it turned out, the host of the studio was someone I had attended classes with in the past—such a small world! The day was packed with valuable insights, covering everything from lighting techniques to posing strategies, and I made sure to take a mountain of notes. By the time the workshop wrapped up, I felt a renewed sense of excitement and inspiration, ready to implement what I had learned.

While I’ve always been confident in delivering high-quality headshots, this experience has certainly added new layers to my skill set. As a result, my approach to lighting has shifted slightly, creating an even more polished and flattering look. Moreover, my posing techniques are evolving to better capture each client’s unique personality. In addition, I’m updating my headshot offerings to provide clients with more variety, added value, and an even better overall experience.
I’m excited to put all these new ideas into action and see the results! Moreover, as soon as a client is happy for me to capture some behind-the-scenes footage, I’ll share another blog post. That is to say, I’ll showcase how these new techniques seamlessly fit into my workflow. So, stay tuned!
